I’m Anastasija (Nastija) Kiake (they/them), and I’m a visual artist, writer, and researcher who is based in The Hague. My artistic practice explores questions of how social, political, and spiritual conditions are shaped by economies of feeling, value systems, and structures of violence. I work with theory as an embodied experience that is practised through different rituals, mediums, and languages. Nothing is central, I approach my processes as decomposition as in the slow rotting, and fermentation, of disciplines. Alongside, I see artistic processes as an underlying current of resilience, that is a form of care, sometimes expressed in the attempt to approach language(s), sometimes in mourning, and sometimes in just trying.
